I didn’t realise it back then, but I was on my Great Grandmother’s country when I went out yabbying with my family. It was the first time I would get to see how it was done. Uncle Henry and my husband walked into the billabong and were dragging the net and pulling the yabbies out of holes. After that the live yabbies were brought up on the bank. They were then put into a big pot of boiling water and once cooked thrown onto the freshly picked gum leaves. There were yabbies galore and everyone demolished this tasty feast.
