Kursi and Four Thumpal, 2025
Acrylic on canvas
100 x 30 x 3.5cm
I am from Moa Island in the Torres Strait Islands, and I like to paint about my culture.
My painting is about the hammerhead shark and four stingrays.
Both the hammerhead shark and the stingrays are my family Totems, and we are not allowed
to catch and eat them.
The shark tooth design in the background belongs to the hammerhead shark, and the clam and shell design represent the reef around Moa Island.
The Dhari’s represents the members of my family.
