My initial inspiration for this work comes from the strong relationship between women,
particularly a mother and her daughter.
Through my experiences, I have come to understand how vital that bond is, especially in passing down cultural knowledge, and I would do anything to protect it.
Whenever I look at this photo, I often wonder what my Aka (grandmother) would say.
How proud would she be to see me using my talent of photography to promote and share our culture.
My Aka is one of the main reasons I feel a deep connection to my Torres Strait Islander heritage.
The fire within her never went out.
It continued to blaze brightly even after her passing.
I am a storyteller, dedicated to inspiring innovation and preserving legacy.
