Napolean Oui 'Freshwater BANA' 2024
Acrylic on canvas with ochre pigment
40.5 x 50.5 x 4cm
This painting represents a shield design, telling the story about how the freshwater flows from the mountain during the wet season down to the saltwater, bringing fresh food for the animals and people. The middle of the painting is called a boch, found on rainforest shields. The cracks represent the freshwater running over the land from the mountains to meet the saltwater.
Exhibited in 'Freshwater Saltwater' exhibition @ UMI Arts Gallery, July 2024 - September 2024.
