Wanda Gibson 'Fish Trap Among the Rocks'
Acrylic on Linen
101.6 cm x 76.2 cm x 3 cm
I painted a basket made from bayjin, a type of lomandra grass.
Nunyin is a type of dilly bag we make that is used to carry large things
like fruit, mussels, and more.
It reminded me of my mother and aunties teaching me how to weave.
I want to inspire the next generation of artists by keeping my ancestors’ stories alive in my art.
Exhibited in 'You & Me' exhibition @ UMI Arts Gallery, March 2025 - April 2025.
