My Dad told us many stories about how our ancestors used to make fish traps. They would weave sticks and vines and then put them in the rivers, swamps and sea. They would put branches in front of the trap, and a few men would walk through the water towards the trap, hitting the water with their spears and woomera so that the fish and other animals would swim towards the trap and get caught. They would then spear it and bring their catch home to feed their families.
