Dorothy Edwards 'Emu Cushion'
Emu is the totem of my Kalkadoon people of Mt Isa.. Emu Country is marked with carvings of the foot of an emu on rocks, trees and painted in caves so other tribes knew not to go any further deeper into that Country. So I have depicted her spirit and my unique symbols of her the emu , her feet, her eggs, her feathers and the spirit of our spinifex country and the spirit of our ancestor women sitting with their digging sticks on Country where they live within Emu Country..
During a series of pattern- making workshops, UMI Arts members created limited edition authentic & original designs on linen. (printed and manufactured in Australia)
