I found inspiration for this painting in the art of weaving.
Ganhthin, also known as the cabbage palm, is highly valued for its leaves,
which provide shelter while hunting in the rain or during hot weather.
The leaves can also be woven into various items, and the soft centre of the palm is edible.
We use cabbage palm leaves to create dilly bags and jewellery as well.
I fondly remember our elders teaching me how to prepare the leaves so that I could weave.
These practices keep our culture alive and strong, demonstrating to others
that we honour our traditions.

Exhibited in 'You & Me' exhibition @ UMI Arts Gallery, March 2025 - April 2025.
