Acrylic on Linen

50.8 cm x 76.6 cm x 3 cm

This is the story of Captain Cook’s men meeting the Bama (Indigenous people) on the banks of the Endeavour. The breaking of the spear symbolizes the first act of reconciliation in Australian history. The Little Old Man broke the tip of the spear to demonstrate to Cook and his men that his people did not want any more bloodshed and desired peace between the Bama and the Wangarr (non-Indigenous people).
We must teach the true history of Australia, along with our culture and traditions. These stories need to be shared and passed down to the next generation, and art plays a vital role in achieving that.

Exhibited in 'You & Me' exhibition @ UMI Arts Gallery, March 2025 - April 2025.
