The Korrakorr (Brolga) is my great-grandmother’s totem, and I am very connected with her spiritually and emotionally, which is reflected in my artwork, too.
I vividly remember travelling from Karumba to Normanton to be with my family during sorry business and seeing them walking and dancing. It was fascinating, and I felt a deep belonging and understanding. At that time, I didn’t know about the brolga bird, so my aunt shared this knowledge with me. After that, I always saw birds in my vision, using all inspiration to pass on our ancestors' memories to the younger generation.
