The kulaps are woven from rope and made with seeds from Matchbox Bean (Burny Bean) tree (the tree produces the worlds largest legume). The kulaps are used as a musical instrument (rattle or shaker) in the Torres Strait during traditional Island dancing.

Adults use the large size and the small is for children.
