In our traditional homelands, during the monsoon season, saltwater meets the freshwater. Barramundi travel through the estuaries and when the water rescinds they become trapped. This is the time we catch them and cook them on the hot coals of a fire. If they are in the lagoons for too long, we don’t eat them as they spend too much time in the muddy water.
