Maletta grew up in Kubin Village, on the Island of Moa (Mua or Banks Island), one of the second largest of islands in the Torres Strait, after Prince of Wales Island (Muralag). She loves to fish, do gardening and to most of all loves to make beautiful flower bead necklaces.
