The Shark Lily flower blooms in late October, signalling the start of shark season and our preparations for hunting them. During this time, sharks accumulate fat, making their meat rich in nutrients and ideal for eating. We also save the bones for making necklaces and the teeth to create knives. Before digging up the root, we cut off the flower and replant it with its seeds for the next season. We refer to the roots as onions, crush them and place them in the river to attract sharks, making it easier for us to catch them.
