Wanda Gibson (Freshwater Fish Trap)
- Acrylic on Linen
- 101.6 x 76.2 x 3 cm
My ancestors crafted fish traps and placed them in the creeks to catch fish, crayfish, and turtles. I have cherished memories of watching my father skillfully make nets and traps to provide food for our family. I feel a deep responsibility to share these stories through my artwork, preserving our culture and traditions while honouring the memories of our loved ones.
